The Krazy Kitchen by K&K: East Meets West in the Comfort of Your Home

This pandemic has definitely put most of our cravings at bay, because as much as all our cravings can be satisfied with one click, the delivery fees do pile up a lot. So when we crave for more than one cuisine, we most definitely choose just one… And put off the others for another day. But what if I tell you that there’s a place where you can get your fix for more than one of your cravings? The Krazy Kitchen by K&K can hit two birds with one stone as they satisfy your katsu and pasta cravings, and at a very pocket-friendly price!

THE STORY

The Krazy Kitchen by K&K is co-owned by a couple, Ms. Kyla and Sir Koko. Sir Koko has always dreamt of having his own food business. But since he got busy with managing their family business after graduating from college, he did not have the chance to actually set it up. Ms. Kyla, on the other hand, is also an entrepreneur, as she owns and manages several online shops. However, this quarantine has made Sir Koko revisit his love for cooking, and he’s blessed to have Ms. Kyla who gave him the additional push to actually set up The Krazy Kitchen by K&K.

Ms. Kyla mentioned that Sir Koko always had a passion for cooking, which is why she did not hesitate to work with him in this new venture. As both were graduates of Entrepreneurship, they surely had a knack for managing their new business. Also, I was told that they’ve tried selling other food items before like: Bacolod’s Chicken Inasal, Chicken Katsudon, and Chicken Wings.

The Katsudon was actually a hit during those days, but Sir Koko got busy with their family business, so he opted to give it up before. But now, they have revisited the Chicken Katsudon recipe, tweaked it a bit, and they started offering it at The Krazy Kitchen by K&K. As Ms. Kyla is also a pasta lover, she decided to experiment with a pasta dish with an oomph in flavor brought about by truffle oil. After a series of recipe tests, they also launched their Bacon Truffle Pasta.

THE FOOD

Their Chicken Katsudon comes in one size only, and is priced affordably at Php 139. Rice lovers would definitely enjoy this as the meat and rice is of balanced proportions. It’s definitely Japanese food made affordable, without sacrificing the quality.

On the other hand, if you’re craving for pasta, their Bacon Truffle Pasta would surely satisfy your palate. The Solo Size sells at Php 195, but if you’re sharing with someone or you just want to pig out, you may opt to get their Big Size (good for 2-3pax) for just Php 380. Quite affordable too, for something with premium ingredients like their truffle cream sauce!

THE VERDICT

CHICKEN KATSUDON

I have always been a fan of Japanese food, but I have often veered away from the fried dishes if I had any choice. I usually find them too dry or too tough, and too expensive, too. But The Krazy Kitchen by K&K made me change my mind. Their Katsudon comes in a very huge serving, for less than Php 150. Definitely a steal, if you ask me.

The chicken was thick but very juicy, and the sweet and salty glaze was heavenly. The onions gave it a nice sweet taste, and the egg provided a layer of texture that pairs well with the steamed white rice. And did I say the sauce was heavenly? (They also sell extra sauce for just Php 15 per 45ml!) Definitely at par with the (more expensive) Japanese restaurants. This dish is also the culprit who made me eat a lot of rice. Worth it, though.

BACON TRUFFLE PASTA

Pasta might seem like a common dish to offer, but The Krazy Kitchen by K&K brought it up a notch by offering it with truffle cream sauce. They deliver the pasta with the mushroom and bacon on top of the al dente pasta, and the truffle cream sauce is separately packed. I really appreciated how they decided to pack it separately, so the sauce does not get absorbed easily. This makes for a better eating experience, too!

Once you mix in the sauce, the distinct taste and aroma of the truffle oil will hit your senses. Each bite is a mixture of creaminess, flavorfulness, and meaty goodness! May I also say that while pasta is best eaten on the spot, we had some left overs (the serving size was huge!) and reheated them the next day. I was expecting the pasta to be soggy, and the sauce to taste different… But I was wrong! It retained the exact same texture and taste from a day before. Awesome, right? Their food is so good, you’d be surprised that this is just a home-based business with the quality of food they serve. Can’t wait to visit their actual store once they open one!

Their mantra has always been providing their customers with sumptuous and unique food options that cannot be easily prepared at home, and I believe these two dishes definitely hit the spot.

Also, spoiler alert! I was told they’re experimenting on a new dish, but that’s all the information I have. Ms. Kyla said that each new dish goes through a long testing process. It has to get the seal of approval from family and friends. Moreover, it has to be unique, and not easily bought elsewhere. I guess these two learned a lot from their college days about competitive advantage.

Follow their pages and stay tuned for the release of their third dish, soon!

The Krazy Kitchen by K&K is a home-based business located in Monumento, Callocan City (near MCU Hospital), and can cater to your order via delivery. They encourage customers to book their own couriers to ensure the food is being sent to the correct address. But they are more than willing to help you book if you need assistance. For inquiries and orders, you may contact them through their Facebook and Instagram accounts.
