Overdoughs Crinkles: Unique and Proudly Pinoy Flavors

Overdoughs has always been close to my heart ever since it first launched. Hailing from the Caravan Food Group headed by Mr. Francis Reyes, they have stood by their promise to provide good food while supporting deaf scholars. While this quarantine has surely also taken a toll on their business, they stayed true to their mission. Delivering straight from their commissary, they have recently launched something you wouldn’t be able to resist: Overdoughs Crinkles.

THE STORY

Sir Francis graduated from UP Diliman with a degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management. He started his business with his first stall of Elait at Century City Mall, selling rolled ice cream. Overdoughs was his second baby, which initially sold beignets and fried doughnuts. Later on, they launched The GoOD Cookie, which featured palm sized cookies with local ingredients like Auro Chocolates. They have since been known for filling our tummies with gooey, crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside chunky cookies. This paved way for them to eventually expand to baking cookie cakes, mini cookies, and now, their newest creation, the Overdoughs Crinkles.

THE FOOD

Overdoughs Crinkles are definitely not your typical crinkles. It comes in three flavors: Double Dark, Chocnut, and Red Velvet. These re-imagined sweet goodies will definitely make cookie and crinkle monsters giddy with excitement. You can get its 5-pc box for Php 179, or a 15-pc box for Php 499 only!

THE VERDICT

Upon receiving my box of goODness, the smell of freshly baked crinkles awakened my senses. I was pleased to see fifteen palm sized crinkles, perfectly crafted for anyone who craves for it. I got a box with all the three flavors, and I was able to compare and choose my favorite among them:

CHOCNUT CRINKLE

Chocnut has been an integral part of the ’90s kids, which is probably why they decided to have this. Taking you down on memory lane, each bite of this flavor reminds you of the good old days. It literally tastes like chocnut in crinkle form. The soft interior melts in your mouth, and you’ll surely crave for more. It’s a bit sweet, but those who are fans of this nutty treat will surely enjoy this!

RED VELVET CRINKLE

Most people who sell their red velvet crinkles are sandwiched with cream cheese filling. But, Overdoughs takes it up a notch by incorporating the cream cheese in the crinkle itself. The cocoa flavored crinkles’ sweetness is slightly tamed by the tart cream cheese bits. The quality of ingredients they used is evident, as it did not taste just like crinkles dyed red (if you know what I mean).

DOUBLE DARK CRINKLE

But my favorite among the three flavors is the Double Dark. While they stood by giving us the classic chocolate flavor, they gave it their own spin by adding a gooey center. These Double Dark Crinkles may seem overly indulgent, but once you take a bite, you’d be surprised that it’s not too sweet at all! In fact, they used a blend of Auro Chocolate’s 55% and 64% dark chocolates for this, so you can only expect the finest taste from this concoction. Each bite is a delight, and you’d definitely want to gobble it up right away to reach the gooey bitter-sweet center. Definitely the best crinkle I’ve had in years! *Reaches for another piece* I swear, this is highly recommended and has the seal of approval from Eat Drink Splurge!
