Grannie’s Baked Spaghetti: Modernizing A Traditional Family Recipe

More and more home-based businesses have opened up the past month, and understandably so. While the government has eased the dining rules and now allow dine-in customers, people still are not that confident on their safety, so they still opt for take outs or deliveries. I recently knew about a fairly new baked spaghetti business that uses a recipe that is decades-old, perfected by a 72 year old grannie. Grannie’s serves classic baked spaghetti that is sure to be a crowd pleaser at any celebration.

THE STORY

The grannie behind Grannie’s has always cooked spaghetti for her childen and grandchildren during gatherings. This time, she wanted to bring this nostalgic home-cooked goodness to others too, so she decides to partner with her grandchildren for her business. She thought of ways on how she can upgrade her meaty spaghetti, and they settled on smothering it with a signature cheese sauce that’s sure to make you drool. They spent weeks on perfecting grannie’s modernized spaghetti recipe, and thus, Grannie’s was born.

THE FOOD

When I got my delivery from Grannie’s, I was immediately able to smell the tasty aroma of the meat sauce and cheese sauce. This is true even with the tray tightly packed. Despite being transported via motorcycle delivery, I’m glad the pasta did not spill at all. It was also a feast for my eyes, and my stomach rumbled at the sight of the baked cheese layer. I can already taste the hot spaghetti and tasty cheese sauce! It was still very hot when it arrived, so I brought it in, and we hurriedly digged into it.

THE VERDICT

Grannie’s used good quality pasta for their baked spaghetti. The pasta noodles are al dente, so they won’t get soggy if you reheat the leftovers. (Though, I highly doubt you won’t wipe out the entire tray.) The signature traditional marinara sauce is flavorful and meaty, and the pork + beef combination is such a stunner! If you prefer a more savory pasta sauce taste, then Grannie’s Baked Spaghetti will surely fit your palate. For those who have strict diet restrictions, you may opt to request them to prepare it with pure beef or pure pork only and they’ll be happy to accommodate your request.

The tasty cheese sauce, on the other hand, is a mixture of parmesan and mozzarella. The slight nutty taste of parmesan cheese plus the milky and creamy mozzarella cheese is a perfect symphony! Each bite is a delight, really. No wonder their grannie is really proud of her signature recipe. A must-try, indeed.

THE PRICES AND SIZES

Grannie’s Baked Spaghetti comes in three sizes which will fit your cravings. Their small tray costs Php 480, and is good for 2-3 people. It can also feed one VERY hungry person. Trust us, we know someone who can finish this on their own. On the other hand, their medium tray costs Php 880, and is enough for 6-7 people. Their large tray can feed around 10 people, and costs Php 1,280.
