BOA Asian Flavors: Southeast Asian Faves with a Twist

IMG_20200229_180541-01

In this day and age where new restaurants have been sprawling in the metro, restaurateurs have to make sure that they have a fresh concept in mind when opening a new store. That’s exactly what BOA Asian Flavors (previously BOA Kitchen + Socials) is about: unique, new, and always changing. You can always expect to find something new each time you visit, and that is exactly something that would definitely drive traffic to the store, even if it is situated in a fairly saturated market that is Tomas Morato.

BOA serves Southeast Asian cusine with modern twists, and their flavorful and close to authentic cooking is definitely something I’d come back for. It’s also notable that while they just celebrated their first year anniversary last month, this restaurant has already made its mark by being recognized as one of spot.ph’s 50 Great Restaurants of 2019. Their location is quite hidden, so you’d surely be glad you stumbled upon them and gave them a try!

THE FOOD

Since Metro Manila is still on community quarantine, they have suspended their dine-in services for the meantime. However, you can still enjoy (through their take-out / delivery services) some of the dishes I’ve previously tried:

✅ SISIG CROQUETTES – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
WOW. This is a genius dish! The sisig we all love is reimagined into croquettes, and you can get all the sisig goodness in just one bite. It’s crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside, and is best eaten when dipped in their toyomansi aioli, and paired with pickled chili or atchara. I loved this, and I can eat this all day long!

✅ NASI GORENG – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
An Indonesian version of fried rice, with a generous amount of chicken and french beans as toppings. I love how the chicken was flavorful but not too overwhelming, its like the flavors are dancing on my tongue with each bite. The french beans are perfectly crunchy! The rice is flavorful to eat on its own, but I wish it had more bite to it. This one is served with colorful and crunchy kropeck, sliced cucumbers and tomatoes, plus two fried eggs. Serving size is quite big, and can feed 2-3 people.

BOA ASIAN FLAVOR’S TAKE-OUT / DELIVERY MENU

Here are other menu items you can try through their take-out or delivery options (every Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday). I head their Pad Thai is the best, so you might want to check that out too:

I hope they allow dining-in soon, or expand their delivery menu, so I can also get these other menu items I’ve tried and loved:

✅ KHAO SOI – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Khao Soi is a Northern Thai soup dish that’s pretty similar to Laksa. It consists of flat egg noodles, fried shallots, bean sprouts, and juicy chicken breast cubes. It’s actually like a medley of Tom Yum and Laksa to me. BOA’s version is just mildly spiced, so it’s not too overwhelming. It’s perfect for the upcoming rainy season so I hope they offer this soon!

✅ LYCHEE ICED TEA – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The flavorful food is best to be washed down by yummy drinks — and this one’s it! I love how their iced tea has a slight bitterness to it, and had an actual tea taste. Make sure to mix the crushed lychee properly into the tea. The resulting flavor is a mixture of sweetness and earthiness that you will not be able to resist.

THE AMBIANCE

Their chill, young, and vibrant interiors reflect the market they want to pursue. However, this pandemic had them unknowingly tap into a wider market: especially for families looking to celebrate intimate events and milestones in the comfort of their homes.

When they resume their dine-in services, I hope you’ll keep them in mind and visit them to try out their scrumptious and unique dishes, plus their wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, while chilling in their physical restaurant. For now, why don’t you head over to their Instagram or Facebook accounts and place your order. I’m sure you’ll thank me later once you get to try their dishes. 😉

Also, they’re launching their website really soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

BOA Asian Flavors is located at Mezzanine Floor, 45 ABDC Building, Scout Rallos Corner Scout Tuazon, Laging Handa, Quezon City. The restaurant served these dishes during a private invitation, and all reviews reflected are honest feedback from Eat Drink Splurge.
